# My account

> Update your name, email address and password, connect GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket for sign-in and repository access, and choose your email notifications and theme.

My account is the page where you manage your own Sevalla user account: your name, email address, password, two-factor authentication, Git connections and email notifications. These settings belong to you, not to a company, so they apply in every company you're part of.

To open it, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then click **My account**.

The page has three cards:

| Card | Settings |
| - | - |
| **Account settings** | **Name** (first name, last name, avatar) and **Email** |
| **Authentication** | **Password**, **Authenticator app**, and **Git login & repository access** |
| **Notifications** | **Failed deployment** and **Marketing emails** |

## Update your name

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the name sheet">
    On **My account**, in the **Name** row, click **Update name**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your name">
    Enter your **First name** and **Last name** (both are required), then click **Update name**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your avatar comes from [Gravatar](https://gravatar.com/), based on your email address. To change it, click **Update on Gravatar** in the **Name** row.

## Update your email address

Changing your email address takes your Sevalla password and a code sent to the new address.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the email sheet">
    On **My account**, in the **Email** row, click **Update email**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Request a code">
    Enter the **New email** and your **Sevalla password**, then click **Request verification code**. Sevalla emails a 6-digit code to the new address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the code">
    Under **Verification**, enter the 6-digit code, then click **Update email**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The code expires after 10 minutes. To get a new one, click **Resend code**. Disposable email addresses and addresses that another account already uses are rejected.

Once the new address is verified, Sevalla signs you out of every session. Sign in again with the new address. The **Email** row shows **Verified** next to your address.

If your company uses [single sign-on](/company/single-sign-on/overview), keep an address on the company's SSO domain, or you can't sign in with SSO.

## Update your password

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the password sheet">
    On **My account**, in the **Password** row, click **Update password**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the old and new password">
    Enter your **Old password** and a **New password**, then click **Update password**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

A password needs at least 8 characters, with a lowercase letter, a capital letter and a number, and can be up to 150 characters. Changing it signs you out of every session, this one included; sign in again with the new password. It doesn't change your two-factor settings.

If you signed up with a Git provider or through single sign-on, you may not have a password yet. Create one with **Forgot your password?** on the sign-in page; see [Reset your password](/account/sign-in#reset-your-password).

## Set up two-factor authentication

Sevalla asks for a second factor every time you sign in with your email and password, unless you've trusted the device. Codes come by email unless you turn on an authenticator app in the **Authenticator app** row. See [Use an authenticator app](/account/sign-in#use-an-authenticator-app).

## Connect Git sign-in

The **Git login & repository access** row has a card for GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket. Each card has two separate connections:

| Connection | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Login** | Lets you sign in to Sevalla with that Git provider's account. |
| **Repository access** | Lets Sevalla read your repositories, so you can deploy applications and static sites from them. See [Git providers](/git/overview). |

To turn either one on, click **Enable** next to it. A window opens at the Git provider; sign in there and approve Sevalla. The line then shows **Enabled**.

## Revoke Git sign-in or repository access

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the connection">
    On **My account**, in the **Git login & repository access** row, click **Revoke** next to the provider's **Login** or **Repository access**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    In the dialog, click **Revoke**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

* **Revoking login** means you can't sign in with that Git provider until you enable it again. Sign in with your email and password instead.
* **Revoking repository access** means Sevalla can't read your repositories at that provider, so applications that deploy from them stop deploying until you enable access again.

The Git provider can still list Sevalla as an authorized app. When it does, Sevalla opens the provider's settings page in a new tab so you can remove it there too.

## Choose email notifications

The **Notifications** card has two switches, both for the address on your account:

| Switch | Sends | Default |
| - | - | - |
| **Failed deployment** | An email when a deployment fails | On |
| **Marketing emails** | Announcements and tips | Depends on your choice at sign-up |

Changes apply right away.

## Choose a theme

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Next to **Theme**, pick **Light**, **Dark** or **System** (follows your device's setting). The theme is saved in your browser, so each browser keeps its own choice.

To delete your user account, see [Delete your account](/account/delete).
