# Laravel

> Guides for running Laravel on Sevalla: deploy with FrankenPHP and PostgreSQL, then add queue workers and the scheduler, object storage for uploads, and Redis caching.

The Laravel guides take a Laravel 13 project from your computer to a running Sevalla application, which [Ingot](https://docs.sevalla.com/applications/builds/ingot.md) builds from your repository with no build configuration, then add one capability each. Start with the deploy guide: the others build on the project it creates.

> **[Deploy Laravel](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/laravel/deploy.md)**
>
> FrankenPHP, Vite assets built during the build, a PostgreSQL database and migrations in a job.

> **[Queues and scheduling](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/laravel/queues.md)**
>
> Run queued jobs in a background worker, on the database or Redis, and the scheduler beside it.

> **[Object storage](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/laravel/object-storage.md)**
>
> Store uploads in a bucket with Laravel's `s3` disk, with temporary or public URLs.

> **[Caching](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/laravel/caching.md)**
>
> Keep the cache and sessions in a Redis or Valkey database.

## How the guides fit together

* **The deploy guide** creates the `storefront` project with `composer create-project`, deploys it with Ingot, and connects it to a PostgreSQL database named `orders-db`. Laravel's defaults keep sessions, the cache and queued jobs in that database, so the application needs nothing else to run.
* **Each topic guide** starts from that project, adds code and environment variables, and deploys again. The guides don't depend on each other, so follow them in any order.
* **Every guide works with both build strategies.** Ingot needs no build configuration. The deploy guide also writes a [Dockerfile](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/laravel/deploy.md#deploy-with-a-dockerfile) for full control of the image, and each topic guide says what to change in it, such as a PHP extension Ingot installs on its own.

For how PHP applications build and run on Sevalla in general, such as the PHP version and the extensions Ingot installs, see [Deploy PHP applications](https://docs.sevalla.com/guides/php/overview.md).
